Horse Hair on Raku

Pot is heated to approximately 900 degrees, and the horsehair is placed on the surface and chars instantly into unusual designs.

Feather on Raku

The surface was heated too approximately 900 degrees in the raku kiln, then carefully removed.  The feather was applied and burned in place instantly, producing its charred image onto the pot.
